I was able to attend Dick Nelson's seminar. It's a 3 part series, the next will be Thursday, 1/24. I missed the first one, catching the second, I came away with a lot of very interesting things about light and color. The most important for me was "Nothing can be lighter than the light source". Of course, it sounds like a no brainer but I needed to be told this. The last 3 paintings I've done where late afternoon and sunset time. I plan on sharing my latest paintings but need to go back and tint all my white areas.
The night before our plein aire group gathered on the grounds of this beautiful mansion! I always loved this area with the sweeping views of the North Shore the isthmus and even Maalaea Harbor. Thank you again, Deb and Trip Lynch. It was a treat.
Deb Lynch will be participating in Maui Open Studios,
February 9 & 10. I got the opportunity to see her gorgeous seascapes and they are worth a visit to her studio!
These prints will be listed for sale this week on http://www.etsy.com/shop/ARTbyRT Stop by or convo me via my
email. Aloha Ral
Your paintings are beautiful. It takes patience to paint in water color, I have none. Some day I want to try my hand at oils, but until then, I will stick to walls.
